  • Experience

    After joining Haldanes as a trainee solicitor in 2009, Weiken qualified in the firm’s Corporate & Commercial and Media & Entertainment Departments in 2011. He has handled a wide range of matters including corporate governance and organisation, including drafting and advising on shareholders’ agreements, joint venture agreements and subscription agreements. In terms of media and entertainment work, Weiken regularly advises corporate clients and individual talents on matters of film, television and music production, concert, live performance, sponsorship, licensing and exploitation of intellectual properties; and handles legal issues arising from licence agreements, talent agreements, service agreements, consultancy agreements, sponsorship agreements, management agreements, recording agreements and publishing agreements. Weiken also advises on regulatory issues concerning internet streaming, download, broadcast and OTT services.

    With regards to general commercial work, Weiken regularly issues legal opinions on Hong Kong corporate and regulatory issues surrounding local subsidiaries of overseas parties subject to loan or acquisition arrangements, and has assisted in preparing financing documentations including loan agreements and share option schemes. He has assisted in the drafting of terms and conditions for online platforms, setting up Hong Kong companies for the purpose of carrying on educational business, and applying for tax exemption. Weiken has also assisted in drafting and amending Articles of Association of Hong Kong companies to suit their business needs.

    Weiken’s experience also comprises of advising clients on shareholders’ dispute matters and immigration visas.
