Areas covered include contractual disputes, professional negligence, commercial fraud, insolvency, banking, insurance, employment, financial services, SFC and other regulatory investigations, injunctions and interlocutory proceedings.

Experience:

David has over 25 years of litigation experience gained in London and Hong Kong.

After qualifying in England in 1977, David worked in leading firms in both the City and West End of London, specializing in insurance, personal injury and general commercial litigation. In 1983, David moved to Hong Kong to join the litigation department of a Hong Kong-based firm. During this time, David handled a broad range of commercial litigation cases. He was heavily involved for many years in the extensive and wide-ranging litigation arising from the collapse of the Carrian Group of companies, representing several key individuals and companies.

David joined Haldanes in 1998 to head the Civil Litigation Department of Haldanes. He has continued to handle a wide range of litigation cases. Particular recent highlights have been: representing an overseas government-owned oil company in relation to the enforcement of a US$260 million arbitral award under the New York Convention; acting for the Cathay Pacific pilots' union in litigation with the airline over rostering and other matters; representing a power company in winding-up and arbitration proceedings involving joint ventures in the PRC; acting against a Hong Kong listed company for the recovery of unpaid commissions of HK$35 million; acting in a complex family trust dispute; acting in arbitration proceedings concerning the production of an animated TV series. David also advises regularly on employment and financial services cases.
