Areas:
Commercial crime specialist,
general criminal litigator and trial advocate. Andrew has
developed a strong practice in criminal defence work and has
considerable experience in cases brought by the Hong Kong
Police, the Independent Commission Against Corruption ("ICAC")
and The Commercial Crime Bureau ("CCB"). This includes extradition and Letters of Request. He is also
experienced in dealing with the Immigration Department as
well as with the Securities and Futures Commission ("SFC")
in regulatory matters.
Experience:
Andrew has been practicing as a solicitor
with Haldanes since 1993 after completing his articles with
Lovells in Hong Kong and London. He previously worked for a criminal law
firm in Sydney. Andrew has defended many large scale "white
collar" commercial crime cases. He has acted for the
defence in a number of well known trials in Hong Kong including
the former CEO of Wardley (HSBC); the former Financial Director
of Yaohan; the former CM of the Allied Group, as well as
in a well known case for Fetish Fashion. Andrew conducts
his own trials in the Magistrates' and District Courts,
as well as instructing counsel. He engages in detailed preparation
of cases for the High Court, Court of Appeal and Court of
Final Appeal. Andrew has also assisted in the prosecution
and detection of commercial crime and advised companies
on possible criminal conduct by directors or employees.
