Derek represents clients in the full range of criminal offences from the statutory investigating authorities - the police, ICAC, Immigration Department and Customs & Excise Department.

He regularly appears as a solicitor advocate in the Magistrates Court and in the District Court for trial as well as other ancillary criminal law applications. He has also instructed and briefed the leading barristers in Hong Kong for large and complex matters in the Court of First Instance and for appeals.
