Louis Fung was first admitted as a solicitor
in England and Wales in January 1988. He practiced in Rakisons,
a medium sized Chancery Lane firm, handling commercial conveyancing
matters. He returned to Hong Kong in 1989 where he was admitted.
He then handled the "Stock Exchange" trial from
1990 to 1993.
In 1993, he joined the litigation department
of Messrs. F. Zimmern & Co. and remained there until
he joined Messrs. Haldanes in 1997.
He was a member of the Law Society Criminal
Law and Procedure Committee and a past Chairman. He also
sat on the Criminal Court Users Committee and other committees
of the Law Society of Hong Kong. He is also a Prosecutor
for the Law Society Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal as
well as a Clerk to the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal.
He is a member of the Overseas Lawyers Examination Panel,
Insider Dealing Tribunal and the Obscene Article Tribunal.
In 1994, he sat as a permanently appointed
temporarily Magistrate in Tsuen Wan Magistrate. In 1995,
he also sat as a Presiding Officer of the Labour Tribunal.
His experience is first and foremost a
litigator, in both civil and criminal matters handling complex
commercial crime cases as well as civil disputes including
commercial, Landlord and Tenant and property related matters.
