Haldanes’ client wins £19 Million Award in Court of Final Appeal
On 6 November 2013, the Court of Final Appeal handed down final judgment in the case of Libertarian Investments Limited v. Thomas Alexej Hall. The CFA upheld an earlier decision that Mr Hall is liable to compensate Libertarian for breach of trust and fiduciary obligations in respect of money entrusted to him for the purchase of shares. However, the CFA increased the award in Libertarian’s favour to £19 million based on the value of the shares.
This brought to an end a 7 year legal battle. Libertarian was represented throughout by Haldanes’ Commercial Litigation Department led by David Hoare and Patrick Rattigan.
