Haldanes successfully defended an insurance professional in Insurance Agents Registration Board (IARB) disciplinary proceedings
Our partner Felix Ng, associates Timothy Wan and Anson Douglas and paralegal Michelle Ma successfully defended an insurance professional in Insurance Agents Registration Board (IARB) disciplinary proceedings.
The IARB’s allegation is that the respondent has failed to make reasonable effort to ensure that the insurance policy proposed is suitable to the needs and resources of the policy holder, in contravention of Clause 80(d) of The Code of Practice for the Administration of Insurance Agents.
Felix was the advocate for the respondent at the disciplinary hearing in June 2018. Upon considering the oral evidence and our written submissions, the Disciplinary Committee dismissed all the IARB’s accusations in August 2018 and no disciplinary action was imposed on the respondent.
Earlier in February 2018, Felix was the advocate for another client in the Hong Kong Confederation of Insurance Broker (CIB) disciplinary proceedings concerning similar mis-selling allegations, and successfully set aside the disciplinary action imposed by the CIB.
