The 2026 Guangzhou International Footwear Festival & Zhanxi Fashion Sourcing Season officially inaugurated on October 29 at the Guangdong Footwear International Procurement Center in Zhanxi. Operating under the dual-IP strategy of “China’s Fashion Capital of Footwear & Global Core Supply Chain for Shoe Materials,” the festival runs through November 4, uniting over 300 key industry leaders, government officials, international trade associations, global buyers, and financial representatives.

The Zhanxi footwear business district represents a powerhouse within the global fashion supply chain—encompassing 14 professional markets across 350,000 square meters, housing over 6,000 merchants, generating nearly RMB 30 billion in annual trade (with over 60% exported), and supplying shoe materials for over 55% of world-renowned footwear brands. Leveraging the upgrading of Guangzhou Railway Station into a Greater Bay Area central hub, Zhanxi is driving a historic shift from OEM contract manufacturing toward autonomous global brand cultivation.

A key highlight was the launch of the Zhanxi Footwear Brand Export Fleet Ceremony, where the initial cohort of benchmark brands—including children’s footwear leader HABERDO—embarked on an international expansion strategy. Adopting a novel “Front Store + Back Factory + Cloud Sales” model, Zhanxi aims to leverage its rapid operational efficiency (“morning design, afternoon prototyping, fast delivery”) alongside cross-border e-commerce green channels to establish a global matrix of proprietary Chinese footwear brands.

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has officially announced that legendary Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto will be honored with the Outstanding Achievement Award at The Fashion Awards 2026. The prestigious ceremony is scheduled to take place on November 30, 2026, at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall.

The accolade recognizes Yamamoto’s profound, enduring impact on the global fashion landscape and his revolutionary approach to contemporary design since establishing his namesake label in Tokyo in 1972. Renowned for his intellectual ethos, masterful tailoring, and radical reinterpretation of volume, proportion, and silhouette, Yamamoto has consistently challenged traditional notions of beauty and elegance. Beyond his foundational collections, his immense cultural footprint spans cinematic and operatic costume design as well as his landmark collaborative venture with Adidas, Y-3, launched in 2003.

BFC Chief Executive Officer Laura Weir praised Yamamoto’s legacy, noting that few designers have reshaped modern perceptions of clothing with such uncompromising vision and precision. Yamamoto joins an elite roster of past recipients, including Karl Lagerfeld, Miuccia Prada, Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford, and Valentino.
