Investment brokerage reports highlight a sustained recovery in South Korea’s inbound tourism sector, benefiting foreigner-only casino operators in Seoul, Busan, and Jeju. Driven by an influx of visitors from China, Japan, and wider Asian markets, operators such as Paradise Co., Grand Korea Leisure (GKL), and Jeju Dream Tower are seeing improvements in hotel occupancy and gross gaming revenue (GGR). Brokerages note that rising passenger volume typically boosts mass-market table games and slot machines first, while VIP rolling chip volume depends on international flight capacity, visa policies, and premium marketing conversions.

Despite positive visitor trends, analysts maintain a cautious outlook regarding the VIP segment. Premium gaming revenue remains susceptible to volatility driven by single-client win rates, cross-border capital flow regulations, and rising promotional expenditure. Furthermore, market observers emphasize that the return of Chinese tour groups does not equate to a revival of the traditional junket model, prompting casino operators to expand direct-managed VIP accounts and non-gaming offerings.

Industry analysts are monitoring performance across key upcoming travel windows, including Mid-Autumn Festival, China National Day Golden Week, and year-end holidays, to evaluate whether operators can maintain profitability amid rising commission rates and intense regional competition.

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has officially expanded its regulatory oversight across the entire online gaming (iGaming) ecosystem. The upgraded regulatory framework brings Business-to-Business (B2B) technology providers, Special Class Business Process Outsourcing (SCBPO) service companies, software developers, and platform suppliers under direct licensing and compliance mandates. This initiative aims to curb illicit market activities, prevent unregulated offshore operations from taking root, and maintain strict operational transparency throughout the gaming supply chain.

PAGCOR’s updated directives set out clear licensing conditions, transition timelines, and mandatory registration requirements for third-party vendors offering technical, operational, or customer support services to licensed operators. By holding backend providers accountable, the regulator seeks to eliminate structural loopholes that historically enabled unauthorized operators to tap into legitimate technical infrastructure. PAGCOR emphasizes that failure to comply with these enhanced supply chain standards will result in administrative penalties, license revocations, or formal blacklist classifications.

Industry analysts consider this expansion a key milestone in stabilizing the Philippines’ gaming landscape following recent policy shifts surrounding offshore gaming entities. The stringent compliance framework aims to bolster public revenue integrity, reinforce anti-money laundering controls, and foster a more sustainable, institutionalized environment for compliant iGaming operators.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) announced the cancellation of the horse racing fixture scheduled for Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Sha Tin Racecourse. The decision was made to show respect for state funeral arrangements following the passing of Tung Chee-hwa, former Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the first Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

In addition to canceling the Sha Tin race meeting, the HKJC announced that all Off-Course Betting Branches (OCBBs) across Hong Kong will suspend operations for the entire day on September 20. Ticketing arrangements, refund procedures for advance bets, and adjustments to customer betting accounts are being processed through the Club’s automated digital systems and customer service centers to accommodate affected patrons.

The operational pause reflects standard protocol observed by major public and charitable institutions during solemn national events, highlighting the HKJC’s civic alignment while temporarily halting horse racing turnover and wagering operations across the territory.

A rare equipment malfunction disrupted the Mark Six lottery draw on the evening of September 12, 2026, prompting the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) to initiate emergency protocols by replacing the primary draw machine and number balls mid-broadcast. During the live draw, the primary automatic draw machine failed to extract winning balls correctly, forcing officials to pause the procedure.

To guarantee absolute fairness and public trust, draw scrubbers and independent auditors immediately authorized the switch to a backup draw machine and an entirely fresh set of official number balls. The secondary draw was completed successfully under strict supervision, confirming the final winning numbers. The HKJC subsequently clarified that the technical glitch had zero impact on the mathematical integrity or randomness of the final draw result, noting that all equipment undergoes routine inspection prior to going live.

The event marks the first public hardware failure involving the fifth-generation Mark Six draw machines since their deployment in May 2026. Despite the disruption, betting systems operated smoothly, and the HKJC reiterated its commitment to maintaining operational integrity across all gaming and lottery platforms.
