Hong Kong’s mixed relay team secured a bronze medal at the Asia Triathlon Cup in Taizhou after Sichuan was disqualified for failing to serve a race penalty. The team, consisting of Wong Tsz-to, Nick Tsang Cheung-sing, Cade Wright and Tallulah Wright, originally finished fourth but moved up to third place. Shandong claimed gold, while Liaoning took silver, with Hong Kong completing the race in third.
Despite the podium finish, head coach Andrew Wright played down the result, noting that Hong Kong did not have its strongest team, while some competitors had fresh athletes who skipped individual events the day before. Several key Hong Kong athletes, including Bailee Brown and Mark Yu Shing-him, withdrew due to extreme fatigue and dehydration, limiting the relay team selection. A second Hong Kong team, composed of younger and less experienced athletes, finished tenth.
The relay required athletes to complete swimming, cycling, and running segments, with Wong delivering the strongest performance among the Hong Kong competitors. While the circumstances behind the bronze were unexpected, the team still put in a solid effort on the day.

This summer, Hong Kong will host the Saudi Super Cup for the first time, featuring top football clubs from Saudi Arabia. The tournament is scheduled to take place from 19 to 23 August 2025 and will include four teams: Al-Ittihad, Al-Qadsiah, Al-Hilal, and Al Nassr. The event is expected to attract significant attention, particularly due to the potential participation of stars like Cristiano Ronaldo.
The competition will showcase a roster of international talent, including Al-Ittihad’s Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté, Al-Hilal’s Kalidou Koulibaly, and Al Nassr’s Sadio Mané. While there is excitement around Ronaldo’s involvement, his future with Al Nassr remains uncertain due to ongoing transfer speculation.
This event represents a major milestone for both Saudi football and Hong Kong’s sports scene. Previously held in cities like London and Abu Dhabi, the decision to bring the tournament to East Asia highlights Saudi Arabia’s ambition to enhance its global football presence and positions Hong Kong as a key destination for international sporting events.
