Tickets for the National Games in Hong Kong, taking place from 9 to 21 November 2025, will be priced affordably, ranging from HK$50 to HK$500, with higher prices reserved for finals. Around 300,000 tickets will be available for the eight events hosted in the city, with 65 per cent allocated to the public and the rest reserved for athletes, coaches and guests. Events exclusive to Hong Kong, such as rugby sevens and fencing, will have locally set prices, while shared events with Guangdong and Macau will follow a coordinated pricing approach.
The Games will feature over 400 events across 34 sports and are expected to attract around 100,000 visitors from mainland China and overseas. Tickets will be sold from August through a unified platform using a real-name system. A 100-day countdown ceremony will be held on 2 August at the Hong Kong Velodrome, with a public challenge encouraging people to collectively complete one million kilometres through physical activity.
With no athletes’ village in place, up to eight hotels across Kowloon, the New Territories and Hong Kong Island will accommodate the 1,700 to 1,800 visiting athletes and officials. More than 15,000 volunteers have been recruited, with an additional 1,000 expected. Ten local companies have been authorised to produce official merchandise, with over 60 types of products already made and more featuring Hong Kong elements planned.

Hong Kong fencer Ryan Choi made history by winning the gold medal in the men’s foil event at the World Fencing Championships in Georgia, defeating Russian neutral athlete Kirill Borodachev 15–9. This marks Hong Kong’s first-ever gold in the men’s foil category at the tournament.
Choi’s path to victory was remarkable, having considered leaving the sport after failing to qualify for the Vancouver World Cup in May 2025. He bounced back with wins at the Shanghai Grand Prix and the Asian Championships, then beat Hungarian fencer Gergo Szemes in the semi-finals before overcoming Borodachev in the final with a strong and tactical performance.
His success builds on previous achievements by Hong Kong fencers Edgar Cheung and Vivian Kong, who earned bronze medals in past championships. Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law congratulated Choi, praising his perseverance and expressing confidence in the Hong Kong fencing team ahead of the upcoming National Games.
