Chinese actress Zhao Wei, who has remained largely out of the spotlight since being labeled a “disgraced artist” in 2021 for unknown reasons, is now facing a new wave of online defamation. Her brother, Zhao Jian, recently spoke out on social media, condemning false accusations that link Zhao Wei to the “KK Garden” telecom fraud case in Myanmar. He described how manipulated images and malicious rumors, including death curses, have been circulated to tarnish her reputation.

The Walt Disney Company has initiated legal action against Hong Kong-based Red Earth Group, which sells jewellery under the brand Satéur, for allegedly infringing on its Mickey Mouse trademarks. Filed in a Los Angeles federal court, the lawsuit targets Satéur’s “Mickey 1928 Collection,” which includes rings, necklaces, and earrings that Disney claims are designed to mislead consumers into believing they are official merchandise. Disney argues that the branding and marketing of the collection intentionally trade on the character’s global recognition and Disney’s reputation.

Although the earliest version of Mickey Mouse from the 1928 short “Steamboat Willie” entered the U.S. public domain last year, Disney maintains trademark rights over the character. The company asserts that Red Earth is using the public domain status as a “ruse” to justify unauthorized sales, particularly highlighting the “Satéur Mickey 1928 Classique Ring,” which features a Steamboat Willie-inspired charm. Disney’s legal team claims the promotional language used by Satéur, such as references to “Disney enthusiasts,” further implies a false affiliation.

Disney is seeking an injunction to stop Red Earth from selling the jewellery and using Mickey Mouse imagery, along with monetary damages. The company emphasized its commitment to protecting its intellectual property and preventing consumer confusion caused by unauthorized use of its iconic characters.
