Organised by the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency, VIRTUOSE: The Artistry of Couture 2026 will serve as the opening programme of the third Hong Kong Fashion Fest. The event will take place on 1 September at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, with a private ordering exhibition following on 2 September.

Four couture designers and brands will present joint runway shows: Guillermo Décimo (Spain), Phan Huy (Vietnam), and Hong Kong’s Tigerstrolling Artisanal and Vivian Luk.

Each will showcase approximately ten meticulously crafted pieces, highlighting pure haute couture craftsmanship rooted in distinct cultural traditions. The private ordering sessions will give high-end clients and media direct access to the designers and their collections, fostering dialogue and potential collaborations.

By staging the event at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, organisers aim to weave historical and contemporary narratives together, reinforcing Hong Kong’s role as a bridge between Eastern and Western fashion cultures.

The Travel Industry Authority announced on 25 August that it has suspended the registration of Kaiser Jewellery International Limited under the Administrative Scheme for Registered Shops for Inbound Tour Groups. The 30-day suspension runs from 26 August to 24 September, during which the shop is prohibited from receiving any inbound tour group visitors.

The decision follows an investigation into a February 2026 incident involving one mainland Chinese tour group. Authorities found that the Kowloon Bay shop, trading as failed to make reasonable efforts to stop a tour guide from coercing passengers into shopping and did not take adequate measures to prevent unauthorised persons from promoting products inside the premises.

In addition to the suspension, the shop’s directors, managers and all frontline staff must complete designated training courses specified by the Travel Industry Authority within one month. The Authority emphasised its zero-tolerance policy toward coerced shopping and any behaviour that damages the reputation of Hong Kong’s tourism industry.

The case forms part of broader efforts to strengthen oversight. The Authority has stepped up cross-border cooperation with mainland tourism regulators, including recent meetings in Guangzhou, to combat illegal guiding activities and protect visitor interests across the Greater Bay Area.

Nanyou Pegasus City in Shenzhen organised a novel order-taking activity focused on original Nanyou brands, international fashion resources and professional buyers. Unlike conventional wholesale sessions where merchants simply display goods for selection, the event was structured as a three-party collaboration involving the venue operator, the Italian Milan Fashion & Design Association (IMFD), local original merchants and visiting buyers.

The programme included a small in-store fashion show, presentations by executives from international luxury brands, a cocktail reception and VIP new-product ordering sessions. Discussions covered luxury brand development principles, global trends, merchandising techniques, sales skills and the value of joint displays between Chinese original labels and international brands.

Italian design resources were also presented on site, including the cashmere light-luxury brand H.Y Studio under IMFD and footwear collections by Italian designer Vittorio Martire. These elements were used to illustrate how international design language and craftsmanship standards can be applied to elevate the presentation of Nanyou-made products.

Organisers described the initiative as a replicable model that helps original brands move beyond pure product transactions. By combining local supply-chain strengths with professional brand storytelling and buyer engagement, Pegasus City aims to support Nanyou merchants in building longer-term market value and international competitiveness.

The 2026 Guangzhou Baima International Apparel Procurement Festival officially opened on 25 August, marking its elevation from a domestic trade event to a fully international procurement platform. Held under the theme “Fashion Origin,” the festival aims to support the transition of China’s textile and apparel industry from manufacturing strength to brand leadership.

Key features include specialised matching sessions for supply chains, brands and menswear, together with the launch of the Baima International Star Plan. This initiative creates a full-lifecycle incubation system covering Chinese designer brands and local original labels, offering tailored support from early-stage development through to international expansion.

A highlight of the opening was a joint fashion show that brought together Hong Kong apparel brand founders and six major Guangzhou local brands. The presentations combined Eastern aesthetic elements with global design sensibilities, showcasing the creative potential of Guangdong-Hong Kong collaboration within the Greater Bay Area.

Industry representatives, including officials from the China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) and leaders from the Hong Kong textile sector, stressed the importance of original design and digital connectivity. The festival also introduced a tiered market development plan designed to guide brands from student start-ups to internationally competitive players, reinforcing Guangzhou’s role as a key gateway for Chinese apparel brands seeking global markets.
