The 5th Asian Para Games is being held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Hong Kong China has sent an 80-athlete delegation across 10 sports. Taekwondo athlete Yeung Siu-kei (楊肇麒) and athletics sprinter Wong Wing-hei (王穎晞) have been named joint flag-bearers for the opening ceremony.
Yeung, who previously competed in para athletics high jump, is switching to taekwondo (men’s –70 kg) as Hong Kong’s first Asian Para Games taekwondo representative. Wong, who has left-side weakness from a childhood fever, competes in the T36 100 m and 200 m. The pair are teacher and student at the same special school and support each other while sharing the responsibility of representing Hong Kong.
Wheelchair fencing legend Yu Chui-yee (余翠怡) will make her fifth consecutive appearance, competing in eight events and expressing confidence in the women’s team events. Former wheelchair fencer Chan Yui-chong (陳蕊莊) is returning in shooting (women’s P2 SH1 10 m air pistol).
The delegation’s size and breadth of sports underline Hong Kong’s continued investment in para-sport development and the depth of talent emerging from both elite and school-based pathways.

Hong Kong’s 18-year-old Jovi Ma Ka-yin (馬嘉言) won the men’s singles title at the 2026 IBF Bowling World Cup (IBF保齡球世界盃) in Munich, Germany, becoming only the second Hong Kong bowler to claim the World Cup men’s singles crown after Wu Siu-hong (胡兆康) in 2015.
Competing in a best-of-three format, Ma topped Group A and defeated Dutch bowler Mathijs Beverdam in the semi-finals (211–202, 218–213). In the final, he edged France’s Gregory Rius 202–201 in the first game and 203–198 in the second to take the gold in straight games. Teammate Keith Mark Siu-ki (麥紹岐) exited in the quarter-finals.
The victory ends an 11-year wait for a Hong Kong World Cup men’s singles champion and marks a significant milestone for the territory’s tenpin bowling programme.
Ma’s success at such a young age highlights the strength of Hong Kong’s junior development pathway and is expected to raise the profile of the sport among a new generation of local players.
