Hong Kong continues to serve as a cornerstone venue for global rugby. During the 2026 season, the city established a single-day attendance record of 41,457 spectators, contributing to a total weekend turnout of 113,395 fans. Across all international host cities, the 2026 SVNS tour attracted more than 530,000 spectators, representing a 21 percent increase compared to 2025.
World Rugby Sevens General Manager Sam Pinder highlighted the tour’s expanding digital footprint and attendance growth. He emphasized that the 2027 campaign carries additional competitive weight because it marks the beginning of the qualification process for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
