Haldanes Senior Associate Xenia Lo Speaks at AIA Seminar

Our Senior Associate, Xenia Lo, delivered a seminar on the “Three Instruments of Peace” (平安三寶) – Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney (EPOAs), and Advance Directives (ADs) – at the invitation of AIA, a listed pan-Asian life insurer. The session was held at their AIRSIDE office in Kai Tak, drawing an engaged group of attendees eager to understand how these essential legal tools can protect their wishes and provide peace of mind for their loved ones.

About the Session

Xenia guided participants through the importance, key legal requirements, common pitfalls, and practical benefits of each instrument under current Hong Kong law. The session concluded with a lively Q&A segment, where attendees had the opportunity to raise their specific questions.

This marked Xenia’s fourth community talk on this topic in 2026, following well-received sessions earlier this year for the Federation of New Territories Youth, The Salvation Army and the Hong Kong Society of the Aged. The consistent demand for these talks underscores the growing public interest in end-of-life and legacy planning, particularly among Hong Kong’s ageing population.

A Commitment That Goes Beyond Talks

Xenia’s dedication to this area is reflected in her broader professional contributions:

  • Shaping Practice Standards – As a member of the Law Society of Hong Kong’s Probate Committee (since 2024), she contributes to the development of probate practices in Hong Kong.
  • Broadening Access to Justice – Since 2018, she has been a volunteer under the Free Legal Advice Scheme, providing direct legal guidance to those in need.
  • Nurturing Future Lawyers – Serving as a mentor for the Law Society’s Mentorship Programme for Law Students (2023) and the CONNECTED 2023 Programme.
  • Serving the Community in Diverse Ways – Her appointment as a Civil Celebrant of Marriages in 2022 reflects her commitment to serving the public across different life milestones.

About our practices

Haldanes’ Civil Litigation & Dispute Resolution team handles complex commercial disputes and multi-jurisdictional litigation. In Wills & Probate, we handle both contentious and non-contentious matters, including the preparation of Enduring Powers of Attorney and the administration of estates to provide families with lasting peace of mind. In terms of Fraud and Asset Tracing, we regularly work with forensic accountants, private investigators and law firms from different jurisdictions, assisting our individual and corporate clients for effective asset recovery.

We extend our sincere gratitude to AIA for the invitation and to all the participants for their thoughtful questions and engagement.
