Haldanes joins HR Roundtable Workgroup Meeting at the Hong Kong Retirement Schemes Association

Haldanes is pleased to announce that our Joint Managing Partner, Nathan Wong, recently spoke at the Hong Kong Retirement Schemes Association (HKRSA) HR Roundtable Workgroup Meeting, sharing legal insights on cross-border retirement planning. Qualified as a Hong Kong solicitor and Greater Bay Area Lawyer, he provided human resources professionals with practical guidance on navigating succession, marriage, and property planning in the Mainland and the Greater Bay Area.

More details of the event

Nathan provided practical guidance for Hong Kong residents who are planning for retirement in the Chinese Mainland including the Greater Bay Area, covering key points below:

  • Cross-border inheritance, including the differences in wills and intestacy under the applicable law to prevent estate disputes
  • Pre-planning for unexpected mental incapacity, introducing Enduring Power of Attorney and Court-appointed systems.
  • Inheritance of Real Estate in the Chinese Mainland, including details of application procedures and common obstacles such as identity inconsistencies and document notarization.
  • Cross-border Asset Management, comparing the marriage and property regimes of both regions with practical tips on purchasing property in the Chinese Mainland and managing Hong Kong assets from Guangdong Province.
